Gian Scott is a Los Angeles based chef cooking at the intersection of West Coast seasonality and Jamaican flavor. His work draws from food traditions across the African diaspora, blending Caribbean rhythm, Black Southern influence, and produce-driven New Californian cooking.
Rubie, his Jamaican pop-up, is a love letter to those influences—rooted in cultural storytelling, seasonal ingredients, and the soulful warmth of the Caribbean. After discovering his path in the kitchens of LA’s Providence and further honing his craft in Seattle, Gian returned home in 2020 to explore his cuisine more deeply, creating food that’s vibrant, intentional, and deeply connected to the city he grew up in.
